The Illinois Fighting Illini handed the Missouri Tigers their first loss of the season in thrilling fashion Saturday night, winning the "Bragging Rights" game 65-64 in St. Louis, Mo. Tracy Abrams hit two free throws to give the Illini the lead with under five seconds remaining, and Missouri's botched inbounds play led to a failed buzzer-beating attempt.
Missouri vs. Illinois final score: Illini hand Tigers first loss of season, 65-64
Tracy Abrams had 22 points for Illinois, but none more important than the two free throws he sank with just over four seconds remaining.

Abrams was the star all day for Illinois, slashing his way to 22 points. His spin move in the lane on the final drive was brilliant, forcing the Tigers to send the junior to the line. The Illini’s leading scorer hit both shots, forcing a desperation shot from Missouri’s Tony Criswell that was unsuccessful.
In a back-and-forth contest with double-digit lead changes, the game would come down to the star player with the ball in his hands last. Jordan Clarkson had a magnificent day for the Tigers, scoring 25 to go along with eight assists and six rebounds. But he couldn't handle the inbounds pass, leading to a mad scramble and Criswell's failed three-pointer.
Saturday was the Illini’s first win over a ranked opponent, having dropped last weekend’s game against the Oregon Ducks in their only other attempt.
