No. 15 Memphis was never quite able to put away Southeast Missouri State, but the Tigers held on for a 77-65 win Saturday night at home behind 20 points from Shaq Goodwin.
Memphis vs. SE Missouri State final score: Goodwin leads Tigers to bounce-back win
It wasn’t always easy, but Shaq Goodwin scored 20 to lead Memphis to the 12-point win.

Goodwin did his damage on 10-of-12 shooting, keeping him on the list of the most efficient offensive players in college basketball.
Memphis came into the game off a four-point overtime loss to Florida earlier in the week at the Jimmy V Classic. Though the Tigers weren’t perfect on Saturday, they shot 50 percent from the field and forced 19 turnovers in a solid all-around game. The Redhawks won the rebounding battle, 39-31.
Tyler Stone led all scorers with 23 points to go along with 11 rebounds for Southeast Missouri State. Jarekious Bradley had 19 more and Antonius Cleveland had 14, but the Redhawks only managed a combined nine points from the rest of its roster.
Joe Jackson had 16 points to help Goodwin’s effort for Memphis.
The Tigers will host Jackson State next Saturday in their final non-conference tuneup before opening AAC play at South Florida on New Year’s Eve.
