Syracuse vs. Indiana final score: Trevor Cooney leads Orange in 69-52 win

The Indiana Hoosiers couldn’t buy a field goal in the second half and the final score reflected that.

A 13-minute field goal drought in the second half by the Indiana Hoosiers spelled doom for their chances against Syracuse, and the Orange rolled to 69-52 win on Tuesday in the ACC-Big Ten Challege.

Indiana went into halftime trailing by four points, but came out in the second half as cold as imaginable. Noah Vonleh hit a jumper to tie the game at 33 with 18 minutes left in the half. The Hoosiers wouldn't hit a field goal for another 13 minutes. Vonleh finally put an end to it when he flushed down a dunk, but at that point the Hoosiers were trailing 60-42.

Trevor Cooney and Tyler Ennis provided the offense for the Orange while much of the frontcourt was limited by foul trouble. Cooney led all scorers with 21 points and Ennis added 17.

Vonleh was the only Hoosier to contribute much offense, leading the team with 17 points. Vonleh, like the rest of the team, struggled to find the space to make a shot, taking only five shots. Thirteen of his 17 points came from the free throw line. As a team, the Hoosiers shot 36.6 percent from the floor and were 4-for-14 from the three-point line. Yogi Ferrell was responsible for all four made three-pointers, finishing with 12 points.

The Hoosiers didn't go down without a fight, however. Austin Etherington was ejected after being called for a flagrant two foul on Trevor Cooney. Cooney stole the ball and Etherington made a hard foul on the subsequent fast break.
