The No. 18 Memphis Tigers got their first win in the brand new American Athletic Conference over the South Florida Bulls, 88-73, on Tuesday.
Memphis vs. South Florida final score: Tigers notch first AAC victory ever, 88-73
The American Athletic Conference is now a thing and the Memphis Tigers got off on the right foot.

The vaunted back court of the Tigers was too much for the Bulls to handle as Memphis raced out to a 16-point lead at halftime and kept on going from there. Geron Johnson led the Tigers with 19 points, while Joe Jackson and Michael Dixon Jr. each added 18 points.
The Bulls tried to counter with their size advantage down low. Center John Egbunu and forward Victor Rudd attacked the rim often, with differing results. Egbunu was solid, scoring 20 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Rudd added 17 points, but went 3-of-13 from the field and picked up the majority of his points at the free throw line.
The inside game wasn’t enough for South Florida, though. Memphis held USF to 42.3 percent shooting from the floor and the Bulls went 0-for-9 from beyond the arc.
The Tigers have now won their last 10 conference openers.
