Kentucky vs. Baylor final score: Bears upset Wildcats, 67-62

Baylor handed Kentucky their second loss of the season behind 18 points from Kenny Cherry.

Baylor upset Kentucky Friday night as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge, 67-62. Kenny Cherry hit a pull-up jumper from the elbow with 40 seconds left to create just enough distance for the Bears to notch a five-point win over the Wildcats, who lost their second game of the season.

Baylor looked like the better team early, with Cherry hitting three quick baskets to give the Bears a 16-7 lead. But Kentucky battle back behind Julius Randle, who had 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists. James Young hits a pair of threes late for Kentucky to keep it close, but the Bears were able to close it out.

Cherry finished with 18 points, including the game’s most crucial basket. Both teams struggled from the free-throw line in the final minute, but James Young missed a three-pointer to seal to the win for Baylor.

Baylor improved to 8-1 on the season. The Bears now hold wins over Colorado and Dayton, with their lone loss coming to undefeated Syracuse. Kentucky will have to regroup quickly, as the Wildcats play a feisty Boise State team and North Carolina in the next eight days.
