C.J. Fair scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and James Southerland returned from a six-game suspension to score 13 points off the bench as the No. 9 Syracuse Orange defeated the St. John's Red Storm, 77-58, on Sunday afternoon.

After missing six games due to a suspension, James Southerland sparked Syracuse to an easy victory over St. John’s in his return on Sunday.

The Orange started fast, opening up a first-half lead as large as 15 points. In the second half, Syracuse continued to maintain a healthy advantage, thanks in part to Southerland’s three-point shooting. After St. John’s cut Syracuse’s lead to five with 11:47 remaining, the Orange went on a 10-2 run that was capped off by a pair of treys from Southerland.
Syracuse (20-3, 8-3 Big East) has won two straight after a pair of losses to unranked teams, and will look for a third on the road against Connecticut on Wednesday.
