The No. 4 Duke Blue Devils avoided becoming the latest top-five team to lose by holding off the Boston College Eagles, 62-61, on Sunday in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

By beating Boston College on Sunday, Duke ensured that at least one top-five team would make it through the week unscathed, though it wasn’t an easy task.

Mason Plumlee scored 19 points, 12 of which came in the decisive second half, and pulled 12 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils. Seth Curry added 18 points.
After scuffling through the majority of the opening half, the Blue Devils came out of the locker room playing physical basketball. Plumlee set the example, scoring four points in an 18 second span at one point by coming down with an offensive rebound and immediately following a pair of free throws with a steal and dunk.
Boston College continued to fight back, overcoming a six-point deficit to take the lead with less than five minutes remaining. After the Eagles increased their lead to five points, Duke ended a five-minute field goal drought with a three-pointer from Quinn Cook. Boston College came up empty-handed on its next few possessions while Plumlee made three out of four free throws to reclaim the lead for Duke.
Olivier Hanlan led Boston College with 20 points in the losing effort by virtue of getting to the free throw line 12 times.
Duke (21-2, 8-2 ACC) will go for its sixth straight victory on Wednesday when it hosts rival North Carolina.
