Marquette went into halftime shooting 50 percent from the floor but still trailed 33-23 because of turnovers -- 12 at half, compared to just nine field goals made. It didn’t get much better for Marquette in the second half, as they finished with 19 turnovers while making just 20 field goals.
The second conference game against Marquette was a much better go-round for Georgetown. Both teams struggled in the first game on Jan. 5, with the Golden Eagles eventually pulling out a 49-48 win.

That year, Kansas lost seven-consecutive conference games and eight overall, and went on to miss the NCAA Tournament -- the only time they haven’t Danced in the last 29 years.
Since Whittington’s last game, a loss to Pitt three days after the Hoyas’ previous meeting with Marquette, Porter has averaged 16.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. During that stretch, Georgetown is 7-1, with its lone loss coming at South Florida on Jan. 19.
