Kansas survived a double-overtime thriller to avenge an earlier loss to Oklahoma State Wednesday night.

In a game that featured 16 ties and 23 lead changes, the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks survived a double-overtime thriller to top No. 14 Oklahoma State, 68-67, Wednesday night in Stillwater, Okla.

With the win, Kansas avoided a season sweep at the hands of Oklahoma State. The Cowboys defeated the Jayhawks in Kansas on Feb. 2, 85-80.

This one was close throughout, with neither team holding more than a five-point lead the entire way.

Guard Markel Brown led Oklahoma State with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Mike Cobbins grabbed 14 rebounds, but that was not enough to counteract Kevin Young (11 rebounds) and Jeff Withey (14 rebounds), as Kansas commanded a 45-37 advantage on the glass.

Even with Ben McLemore not on his game -- he shot just 3-of-12 -- the backcourt was a huge factor for the Jayhawks. Travis Releford led Kansas with 18 points and Elijah Johnson chipped in 10 more.

Withey had 17 points to provide a tough interior presence for Kansas, who led for much of the second half.

Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart struggled all game long, but hit a three with 1:09 to go in regulation on a fast break to tie the game at 57 and send it to overtime. Until that point, Smart was just 1-of-11 from the field.

In the extra session, the Jayhawks held a three-point lead with under minute left when Phil Forte hit a game-tying three after a frantic Cowboys possession to send the game into a second overtime.

The second overtime was just as back-and-forth as the rest of the game had been. Markel Brown hit what looked like it could be the game-winning shot with 50 seconds left for Oklahoma State, but Kansas came right back down the floor and answered with a jumper by Naadir Tharpe to put the Jayhawks up a point. On the ensuing Cowboys possession, Releford came up with a huge steal to clinch the victory.

The game was a battle of two teams tied for second in the Big 12, with Kansas moving into a first-place tie with Kansas State after pulling it out.
