No. 22 Colorado State vs. UNLV final score: Marshall’s jumper sends Rebels to 61-59 win

Anthony Marshall hit a shot with seven seconds remaining to break a 59-59 tie and give UNLV a much-needed win over Colorado State.

Anthony Marshall’s jumper with seven seconds remaining broke a tie and sent the UNLV Rebels to a 61-59 win over No. 22 Colorado State in Mountain West action Wednesday night.

It was the 20th win of the year for UNLV, who is now 20-7 overall and 7-5 in the Mountain West. The Rams drop to 21-5, 8-3 in conference.

Three players scored in double figures for Colorado State, who overcame a slow start to keep the game close down the stretch. The Rams scored just 21 points in the first half, including a six-minute span in which they were kept off the scoreboard entirely. And though Colorado State picked it up in the second half, Colton Iverson's 16 points, combined with 12 more from Daniel Bejarano and 10 from Wes Eikmeier, were not enough.

The backcourt duo of Katin Reinhardt and Bryce Dejean-Jones scored 15 points each to lead the offense for UNLV. Khem Birch was also a force inside, blocking six shots for the Rebels and grabbing another six rebounds.

But UNLV was also hampered by 17 turnovers, compared to ten for Colorado State. Three steals each from Iverson and Dorian Green accounted for six of the Rebels’ miscues.

And missed opportunities could have cost the Rebels the game, if it had not been for Marshall’s late heroics. Bejarano tried to answer Marshall with what would have been a game-winning three at the buzzer, but his attempt was no good, sealing the victory for UNLV.
