No. 23 Oregon vs. California final score: Golden Bears knock off Ducks, 48-46

Justin Cobbs hit a 20-foot jumper with less than a second remaining to lift the California Golden Bears to a 48-46 upset victory over the No. 23 Oregon Ducks on Thursday night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.

Cobbs, a transfer from Minnesota, was defended on the play but stepped back and buried the shot to give Cal its sixth victory in seven games. Cobbs finished the game with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Allen Crabbe, the Golden Bears' leading scorer, added 12.

Oregon led by as many as 10 points early in the first half, but the game would soon become closely contested as neither team led by more than four points after the opening minutes of the second half. Oregon held a five-point lead at the break, but Cal quickly erased it with an 8-3 run. After going back and forth for the better part of 15 minutes, the Ducks regained a three-point lead with 2:15 remaining following Carlos Emory's layup. However, Cal's Robert Thurman converted a three-point play to tie the game nine seconds later, and the Golden Bears' defense managed to keep Oregon off the board for the remainder of the game, setting up Cobbs' game-winner.

Oregon fell into a tie with Arizona for first place in the Pac-12 as a result of the loss. Meanwhile, Cal moved into second place in the conference and owns victories over both teams during the past two weeks.

Emory led Oregon with 13 points, while Arsalan Kazemi pitched in 11 points and 17 rebounds.
