Saint Louis went on the road and knocked off No. 15 Butler on Friday, beating the Bulldogs 65-61. Saint Louis was able to hang on for the win despite struggling to close out the game at the free throw line in the final minute.

Saint Louis couldn’t connect at the free throw line late in the game, but the Billikens still managed to come up with a 65-61 upset victory at Butler.

Butler jumped out to the lead early and led most of the first half, but Saint Louis came back early in the second half. While the game was close for the majority of the final 20 minutes, Saint Louis appeared to be in control with a five-point lead and less than a minute to play. The Billikens, however, went cold at the free throw line allowing Butler multiple opportunities to come back.
The Billikens made just 2-of-6 free throws in the final minute, including two misses on the front end of an 1-and-1. The Bulldogs were able to pull within two at 63-61, but never got any closer as Saint Louis was able to hang on for the win. The loss was just Bulters’ sixth of the season, but the second to Saint Louis.
Mike McCall Jr. Led the Billikens with 18 points on 5 of 10 shooting while Kellen Dunham scored 14 points off the bench for Butler. Both teams struggled from the free throw line as Butler made 15-of-26 attempts while Saint Louis made just 14-of-26 attempts.
With the win, Saint Louis now finds itself alone at the top of the Atlantice 10 standings at 10-2 in conference play. Bulter is one and a half games behind at 9-4.
