The Pittsburgh Panthers outlasted the Seton Hall Pirates and poor shooting on both sides to take home a 56-46 win on Monday night.

Both teams struggled with cold shooting, but Pittsburgh was just warm enough to take home the victory and send Seton Hall to their fourth straight loss on Monday night.

It was slow and painful going for much of the game. The Pirates and Mountaineers entered the half tied at 24 points each. Seton Hall shot 7-for-23, and Pittsburgh wasn’t much better with just 9-for-28 shooting through the first half.
Junior guard Fuquan Edwin kept the short-handed Seton Hall within fighting distance for much of the game by scoring 12 in the first half. He finished the night leading all scorers with 23 points off of 7-of-16 shooting and five steals.
Unfortunately, the rest of his team didn't have anywhere close to as good of a night. Edwin accounted for half of the Pirates' 14 field goals. Their next most prolific shooter was Brian Oliver, who finished the night with six points off of 2-for-6 shooting. As a team, the Pirates shot 33.3 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range.
Pittsburgh was coming off of a big win over Syracuse on Saturday night, but had a hard time carrying the momentum. They jumped out to an early 10-3 advantage, and that would be their largest lead for much of the game until they pulled away late with two minutes remaining. Junior forward Lamar Patterson led the Panthers with 12 points. He was helped out quite a bit by freshman center Steven Adams, who finished with a career-high 15 rebounds, six of which were offensive.
The Panthers also struggled to put the ball in the bucket, just a little bit less so. Pittsburgh shot 34.8 percent from the field and were 19-of-29 from the free throw line. They did manage to outrebound Seton Hall, 38-27, holding a 13-7 edge on the offensive glass.
Pittsburgh improved to 7-4 in Big East play and will go on a two-game road swing to Cincinnati and Marquette next. It was the fourth straight loss for the Pirates, who now sit at 2-8 in conference play.
