No. 14 Butler vs. Saint Bonaventure final score: Bulldogs roll, 77-58
You may know Butler for its flair for the dramatic. No such flair flared in Wednesday’s affair.
Butler was particularly sharp from three-point range; the team was shooting 9-of-18 beyond the arc well into the second half, and finished 11-of-26. It was Butler's most made threes in a game since hitting 11-of-24 in its 88-86 win over the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers on Dec. 15.
Rotnei Clarke was a big part of Butler's three-point prowess Wednesday, as he often is. He finished 3-of-8 from deep for a total of 17 points, leading Butler.
Butler leapt back into a first-place tie on the crowded Atlantic 10 leaderboard. Butler and the Virginia Commonwealth Rams are each 6-2 in league play; the Charlotte 49ers and Saint Louis Billikens are 5-2 (with games still in play Wednesday); and the La Salle Explorers and Xavier Musketeers are 5-3.
The loss sent St. Bonaventure to 3-5 in league play and below .500 overall, at 10-11.
Butler hosts the George Washington Colonials on Saturday before kicking off a handful of pivotal February games on the road against Charlotte on Feb. 13.
