No. 20 Georgetown vs. Rutgers final score: Hoyas survive, 69-63

Otto Porter Jr. scored 10 points in the final 5:42 to help No. 20 Georgetown get past Rutgers on Saturday.

Markel Starks scored 20 points, and Otto Porter added 19 points and 14 rebounds to help the Georgetown Hoyas avoid an upset by outlasting the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 69-63, on Saturday afternoon.

After Rutgers took a one-point lead with less than eight minutes remaining, the Hoyas embarked on a 14-5 run down the stretch to take control of the game. Porter accounted for ten points during the pivotal stretch.

Georgetown was seemingly on its way to an easy win after staying several possessions ahead of Rutgers for most of the first half. However, the Scarlet Knights made a game of it by closing out the opening half on a 15-8 run, tying the game at 33 heading into the break.

Rutgers guard Eli Carter led all scorers with 23 points in the losing effort.

Georgetown (17-4, 7-3 Big East) will return on Monday looking to avenge an earlier loss to No. 24 Marquette. Meanwhile, Rutgers (12-10, 3-8 Big East) stays home to face Seton Hall on Tuesday.
