No. 5 Kansas vs. Oklahoma final score: Jayhawks’ slide continues with 72-66 loss

Romero Osby had 17 points to lead Oklahoma to an upset win over Kansas Saturday afternoon. The loss gives the Jayhawks their first three-game losing streak since 2005.

Romero Osby had 17 points for Oklahoma as the unranked Sooners sent the No. 5 Kansas Jayhawks to their third straight loss Saturday afternoon in Norman, 72-66.

This is the first time since 2005 that Kansas has lost three in a row, a stat that is certainly not lost on head coach Bill Self. Following the Jayhawks’ shocking defeat to TCU last week, Self ripped his team in the postgame press conference, calling them “the worst team Kansas has ever put on the floor since Dr. Naismith was there.”

Though Saturday's performance wasn't historically bad for Kansas, the fifth-ranked team in the country seems to have lost its way. Ben McLemore had 15 points for the Jayhawks, but that was no match for the combination of Osby and Steven Pledger (15 points) for the Sooners, who led virtually the entire game.

Osby connected on a three less than three minutes in to put Oklahoma up for good, though the lead never stretched into double digits.

As the game wore on, the Sooners maintained control despite even numbers across the board. Kansas shot 47.2 percent to 44.1 percent for Oklahoma. The Sooners were also out-rebounded 36-34. Kansas had 13 turnovers to 11 for Oklahoma.

But when the final buzzer sounds, the only stat that matters is the final score, and for the third time in a row, Kansas was on the losing end. The Jayhawks will look to get back on track Monday night when they host in-state rival Kansas State.
