St. John's Red Storm sophomore guard D'Angelo Harrison has been suspended for the remainder of the 2012-13 season and all postseason games, head coach Steve Lavin announced on Friday. Harrison leads the team in scoring with 18.2 points per game on 39.4 percent shooting, but Lavin made the decision to keep Harrison away from the team for the rest of the year. No reasons were officially given in the University's press release, but Lavin had this to say:

“I had a productive meeting with D’Angelo yesterday. He has a bright future in basketball and I’m optimistic his time away from our team will be of value,”

Harrison was reportedly suspended for a pattern of bad behavior, but he may still have a chance to earn his way back onto the team next year.

Harrison was a preseason second-team All-Big East selection this year.

St John's is 19-11 on the season and in ninth place in the Big East Conference standings. They have three conference games left on their regular season schedule, and their next game will be on Saturday against the Providence Friars.
