MAC Tournament 2013 bracket: First round action begins on Monday

No. 1 seed Akron and No. 2 seed Ohio are the prohibitive favorites in the 2013 MAC Tournament, kicking off on Monday with first round action. The Zips, however, will be without starting point guard Alex Abreu, arrested Thursday on drug charges.

The 2013 MAC Tournament Championship kicks off on Monday, with three first round games scheduled. No. 1 seed Akron and No. 2 seed Ohio, co-MAC regular season champs, do not play their first games until Friday, in the semifinal round. The Zips received the top seed courtesy of their head-to-head record over the Bobcats.

Ohio was 7-0 this season against team’s on their side of the bracket, while Akron was 4-2 against their possible tournament opponents.

Though seeded No. 1, Akron might struggle in this week's tournament due to the loss of starting point guard Alex Abreu, arrested Thursday on drug charges.

Game 7: Game 5 Winner vs. No. 3 Western Michigan, 9 p.m.
Friday, March 15 - Semifinals
Game 8: Game 6 winner vs. No. 1 Akron, 6:30 p.m.
Game 9: Game 7 winner vs. No. 2 Ohio, 9 p.m.
Saturday, March 16 - Championship Game, 6:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
