Tom Crean has postgame altercation with Michigan assistant

Indiana head coach Tom Crean got into it with a Michigan assistant after the Hoosiers narrowly defeated the Wolverines to win the regular-season Big Ten title on Sunday.

Indiana Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean was involved in an altercation with Michigan Wolverines assistant coach Jeff Meyer after the final play of the Hoosiers' 72-71 victory over the Wolverines on Sunday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Crean reportedly had a verbal exchange with Meyer during the postgame handshake, and the two continued to jaw afterward, according to Yahoo! Sports' Dan Wetzel.

Meyer used to be an assistant at Indiana, coaching from 2006-08 under previous head coach Kelvin Sampson. Crean became head coach after Sampson resigned due to NCAA violations.

Michigan also recruits Indiana heavily, as the Wolverines currently have three players from Indiana on their roster. The Wolverines also signed four-star recruit Zak Irvin, who is in the running for Indiana's Mr. Basketball.

Crean had little to say about the incident, but did call the Hoosiers' victory a "rivalry" win.

Michigan's Trey Burke missed a wild layup attempt while surrounded by Indiana defenders with seven seconds left. There appeared to be contact on that play, as well as during Jordan Morgan's put-back attempt immediately thereafter.

Indiana secured the outright Big Ten championship with the win while preventing Michigan, Ohio State and Michigan State from having a shot at sharing the title.
