MAC Tournament 2013 results and bracket: No. 11 seeded Miami pulls the upset

The Miami Redhawks snapped a nine-game losing streak as they join Eastern Michigan and Buffalo in the second round of the Mid-American Conference tournament.

Eastern Michigan, Buffalo and Miami each kept their postseason hopes alive as they won their first round games of the Mid-American Tournament on Monday.

The 11th-seeded Miami (Ohio) Redhawks pulled the big upset of the day, defeating the Bowling Green Falcons 63-52. Junior forward John Harris led the Redhawks with 14 points as Miami snapped a nine-game losing streak with the win.

It was the second time this season the Redhawks beat the Falcons, pretty much the only team in the MAC that Miami had any success with. Miami finished conference play 3-13, ending the regular season losing 12 of their last 13 games.

Miami will face off against Eastern Michigan Eagles on Tuesday, who barely squeaked by the 10th-seeded Northern Illinois Huskies 45-44 on Monday.

Freshmen guard Jalen Rose hit the winning three-pointer for the Eagles with 30 seconds left in the game to send them into the second round of the MAC tournament. Eastern Michigan led by seven points at half but only scored 17 points in the second half. Both teams struggled to score, but the Huskies put up a shooting line to forget, hitting just 14-45 shots from the floor and going just 7-18 from the free throw line.

The eighth-seeded Buffalo Bulls got 21 points from junior Javon McCrea as they outlasted Central Michigan Chippewas in overtime, 74-72. Senior guard Kyle Randall led all scorers with 31 points, but his hand went cold for Central Michigan in overtime, where he went 0-5. The Bulls draw the fifth-seeded Ball State Cardinals on Tuesday.

Tuesday games:
No. 5 Ball State vs. No. 8 Buffalo, 6:30 p.m. ET
No. 7 Eastern Michigan vs. No. 11 Miami, 9 p.m. ET
