Most bracketologists have the Big East sending quite a few teams into the NCAA Tournament, but the first day of the Big East tournament features only the teams fighting for any hope of postseason life.

The bottom rungs of the Big East standings start off the Big East Tournament on Tuesday as Seton Hall, South Florida, Rutgers and DePaul fight for NCAA tournament life.

The 12th-seeded Seton Hall Pirates take on the 13th-seeded South Florida Bulls in the first game Big East game of the evening. Both teams finished conference play 3-15, but the Bulls are ending the season with a bit more momentum than the Pirates, winning two of their last three games to close out conference play.
The 11th-seeded Rutger Scarlet Knights takes on the bottom-seeded DePaul Blue Demons in the second Big East game on Tuesday. Rutgers started out conference play 3-2 but proceeded to lose all but two of their final 13 games, including their only game against the Demons, a 75-69 loss on Feb. 16.
Either Rutgers or DePaul draws the sixth-seeded Syracuse Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday in the second round of the tournament. The winner of Seton Hall and South Florida will take on the fifth-seeded Syracuse Orange.
