The top two teams in the MAC will meet in the conference championship game, as the No. 1 Akron Zips and the No. 2 Ohio Bobcats both won their respective semifinal matchups.
MAC Tournament 2013 results and bracket: Akron, Ohio advance to finals
The top two teams in the MAC held serve in the semifinals, although Akron and Ohio played very different games.


Akron survived their semifinal game, defeating the No. 4 Kent State Golden Flashes, 62-59. Senior center Zeke Marshall played inspired basketball, scoring 18 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and blocking sevens shots for the Zips. Demetrius Treadwell also posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Akron managed to win despite shooting 13 of 29 from the foul line and playing without starting point guard Alex Abreu, who is suspended indefinitely.
Ohio had a much easier time in the semis, winning, 74-63, against the No. 3 Western Michigan Broncos. The Bobcats jumped out to a quick start, holding a 17-point lead at halftime. D.J Cooper had an impressive game for Ohio, scoring 21 points while dishing out ten assists.
Akron will face Ohio in the MAC tournament championship game on Saturday. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN2.
