Big 12 Tournament 2013 results and bracket: Kansas, Kansas State to meet in finals

Kansas and Kansas State both knocked off their respective opponents, and will be meeting on Saturday to determine the Big 12 champion.

The Big 12 tournament finished up its semifinal round on Friday. While all four teams are expected to be dancing next week, there was still a lot of exciting basketball to be played, with teams looking to lock up high seeds. The automatic bid is still up for grabs on Saturday, so we have one more good NCAA tournament preview to watch over the weekend. Let’s recap Friday’s action.

No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks 88, No. 5 Iowa State Cyclones 73

Kansas is still in the hunt for a No. 1 NCAA seed, and they didn't have much trouble taking care of the Cyclones in the semifinals. Jeff Withey and Elijah Johnson both had 14 points, and Perry Ellis came off the bench to lead the team with 23 points. The Jayhawks shot 53.2 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Cyclones 37-28.

Kansas will be playing Kansas State for the conference crown on Saturday.

No. 2 Kansas State Wildcats 68, No. 3 Oklahoma State Cowboys 57

Rodney McGruder dominated once again with 25 points and nine rebounds. Angel Rodriguez chipped in with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. The Wildcats won this game with stifling defense, holding the Cowboys to a 30.5 percent field goal percentage. They will take on Kansas for the tournament crown.
