Kansas going against Kansas State was supposed to be an epic matchup in the Big 12 title game. Two big rivals, both ranked in the top 15, each tied for the regular season title, vying to stake their claim and seize a piece of hardware they wouldn’t have to split with the team from across the state.
Big 12 Tournament 2013: Kansas pleased with dominance vs. K-State
Kansas didn’t struggle in what should have been a marquee showdown in the Big 12 Championship game, and their fans savored it.
It didn't exactly pan out that way. For a third time this year, Kansas beat Kansas State, and in the matchup with the most on the line, the Jayhawks were dominant, sharing the ball prettily, going 7-for-14 from three-point range, and hounding Rodney McGruder and Angel Rodriguez into 28 points on 27 shots.
Suffice it to say, it was an enjoyable watching experience for Kansas fans, as you can tell from the recap by Rock Chalk Talk:
Kansas has won a lot of games in a lot of different ways this year. They’ve won with hot shooting. They’ve won with stifling defense. They’ve made it look pretty, and they have sure won ugly. They did all four at times yesterday, defeating Kansas State 70-54.
That leaves them wondering how their NCAA Tournament fate will hold up: the majority of the recap post about the win was spent discussing whether or not the Jayhawks will be a No. 1 seed when they find their fate on Selection Sunday.
K-State blog Bring on the Cats hasn’t posted their recap yet, but if you’d like a slice of schadenfreude, you can read the comments in the game thread from Saturday’s game.
