No. 14 New Mexico vs. Wyoming final score: Lobos clinch Mountain West title share with 53-42 win

The Lobos are now two games up with two to go in the Mountain West season.

The No. 14 New Mexico Lobos earned at least a share of the Mountain West regular-season title with a 53-42 win Saturday over the Wyoming Cowboys.

Alex Kirk had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Lobos, and Cameron Bairstow finished with 13 points and nine boards.

New Mexico earned a share of the Mountain West title and has two games -- both on the road -- in the upcoming week to win the league outright. The Lobos play Wednesday against the Nevada Wolfpack and Saturday against the Air Force Falcons. The only team in the league standings that could split the league crown with New Mexico at this point is Colorado State. The Rams play Saturday at 8 p.m. ET against the Boise State Broncos.

New Mexico set the tone early against Wyoming on Saturday and did not let the pace ever get away; the slowed tempo has proven to play into New Mexico’s strength. But the Lobos can also win high-scoring games as they did in a 91-82 win at Colorado State on Feb. 23.

The Lobos have won five straight games headed into the last week of their regular season.
