We have reached the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament, and there are several high profile NBA prospects in action on Saturday. First, Trey Burke and the No.4 Michigan Wolverines kick off the day at 12:15 p.m. ET on CBS with a tough matchup against the No. 5 VCU Rams.
NCAA Tournament 2013 schedule: Trey Burke, Kelly Olynyk look for good showings
Trey Burke and Kelly Olynyk will look to boost their NBA draft stock in Saturday’s round of 32 action in the NCAA Tournament.
Burke struggled a bit in the Wolverines’ second-round win over South Dakota State, scoring just six points on 2-of-12 shooting. The Big 10 Player of the Year did hand out seven assists and also recovered from an injury scare after landing hard on his back.
The swarming VCU defense known as “Havoc” will be a tough test for Burke. A big game against that type of pressure defense would boost the point guard’s draft stock.
Elsewhere, Kelly Olynyk will look to put forth another strong effort for the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs when they take on the No. 9 Wichita State Shockers at 8:40 p.m. ET on TNT. Olynyk had 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 64-58 win over Southern as the Bulldogs narrowly avoided becoming the first No. 1 seed ever to lose to a No. 16 seed.
Like VCU against Burke, Wichita State will provide a stiff test for Olynyk. The Shockers are a physical team that are riding high after dominating Pitt in the second round. Gonzaga will need their star big man to be on top of his game if they want to avoid going home early.
