Gonzaga vs. Wichita State: Bulldogs fans frustrated after upset in 2013 NCAA Tournament

Gonzaga Bulldogs fans are frustrated after another earlier-than-expected exit in the NCAA tournament.

USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs and their fans had high expectations for the NCAA Tournament. They were the No. 1 ranked team in the AP Poll, and the No. 1 overall seed in the tourney.

The No. 9 Wichita St. Shockers spoiled their plans, winning 76-70 in a back-and-forth game. The loss is the Bulldogs fourth straight in the round of 32, and the disappointment of early exits are starting to take its toll on the fanbase.

Gonzaga blog Slipper Still Fits posted an in-game thread, which turned into a place for fans to express their opinion following the loss. Some of the fans are starting to blame head coach Mark Few for the teams struggles in March. Commenter Irish Zag is one of the many frustrated with Few, as the poster wrote:

Its [sic] not the players and its [sic] not the league. Mark Few has no idea what he’s doing in March. He’s a great recruiter and a great regular season coach. But he sucks at in game coaching, especially when it matters. The fact he’s never made it passed the sweet 16 with the teams he’s had is evidence enough of how poor he is.

Not everyone places the blame on Few, as many of the commenters in the Open Thread stuck up for the Bulldogs head coach. One of those commenters is spokanecougar, as the poster stated.

Gonzaga wouldn’t be where they are without him. Yes, he might be a bit stubborn in his coaching style and needs to recruit some tougher players...but he is still among the best coaches in the country

The Slipper Still Fits Twitter account also stuck up for Gonzaga, as the account posted after the game:
