The No. 4 Syracuse Orange played and ugly basketball game against the No. 12 California Golden Bears, but Syracuse avoided the upset, winning 66-60.
Syracuse vs. California: Orange fans happy to advance to Sweet 16
The Syracuse Orange won an ugly game over the California Golden Bears in the NCAA tournament, leaving their fans happy.

Some Syracuse fans were disappointed with the team’s effort against a lower seeded opponent, but Sean Keely from Troy Nunes Is An Absolute Magician reminded Orange fans that it is difficult to win in March, and they should be pleased that the team managed to advance.
Savor, Syracuse fans. Don’t complain. Don’t second guess. Enjoy. Those of us old enough know all-too-well that this isn’t a right, it’s a privilege.
Keely is worried about the team’s depth, especially at power forward, where James Southerland is the team’s best option but struggles to stay in the game:
The James Southerland Foul Trouble Scenario reared its ugly head again so it’s something to keep an eye on.
Least Coast Bears wrote about the game from the Cal perspective over at California Golden Blogs. The Bears struggled on offense against Syracuse’s length and the 2-3 zone:
The “Eureka!” moment never arrived on Saturday for the California Golden Bears offense. Against the vaunted zone defense of the Syracuse Orange, the Bears could not effectively attack the basket all game long.
The fans are hopeful for next season, as Least Coast Bears wrote:
Now we just have to wait and see whether Allen Crabbe will return for senior year or not....The expectation for next season will surely be a lot higher if Crabbe is back to play with the high touted incoming class, featuring Jabari Bird.
