March Madness 2013 scores, Indiana vs. Temple: Hoosiers survive upset scare, 58-52

No. 1 Indiana survives an upset scare in Dayton; will play Syracuse in the next round.

Jason Miller

Indiana played into Temple's game plan all day, but managed to escape with a 58-52 victory on Sunday. Naismith candidate Victor Oladipo iced the game in Jordan-like fashion with a three from the top of the key, giving the Hoosiers an insurmountable four-point lead. The Hooisers scored the last 10 points of the game as Temple floundered in the final minute.

Temple led, 29-26, at the half behind Khalif Wyatt’s 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Wyatt eventually finished the game with 31, giving him 62 across two tournament games. The 6’4 senior easily leads the field in total scoring. The Owls managed to slow the game down and hold Indiana to 42 percent shooting, six points lower than their regular season total.

Indiana was hampered in the first half by fouls and injury. Cody Zeller picked up his second foul with just under seven minutes left in the period, which led to a 12-6 run by Temple to create the three-point halftime lead.

Hoosiers guard Jordan Hulls left with a shoulder injury in the first half and didn't start the second. However, he returned to score two key buckets to keep Indiana in the game late.

Temple’s Scootie Randall had a notable game, shooting 12 shots and failing to make even one of them. He was 0-for-6 from three-point range.

Indiana plays Syracuse next, who knocked off Cal on Saturday night. For an updated bracket, head over here.
