The third region of the NIT Tournament was the only one to play out predictably, as the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide take on the No. 2 Maryland Terrapins on Tuesday for a place in the semifinals.

The only NIT game on Tuesday is the quarterfinal matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Maryland Terrapins.

Neither team has faced too stiff a test thus far, as Alabama defeated Stanford soundly 66-64 in the second round and Maryland topped Denver 62-52.
The Crimson Tide held the Cardinal to 31 percent shooting from the floor as they defeated the defending NIT champion on Saturday. Sophomore guard Levi Randolph continued his strong play in the NIT tournament, scoring 16 points and grabbing six rebounds.
The Terrapins needed to fight back a bit against the Denver Pioneers, who went on a 23-4 run to close out the game after trailing by nine points midway through the second half. Dez Wells scored 19 for the Terrapins, who are hoping they won't have to deal with any cobwebs. After playing six games in 12 days leading up to their second round win last Thursday, the Terrapins are going on five days rest -- their longest layoff since conference play started.
Game time, location: 7:30 p.m. ET, Coleman Coliseum, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
