The quarterfinals of the NIT Tournament were set on Monday, and the games get underway on Tuesday.

The No. 1 Southern Miss Golden Eagles, No. 3 BYU Cougars and No. 4 Providence Friars filled out the other half of the bracket with wins on Monday.

No. 1 Southern Miss 63, No. 5 Louisiana Tech 52

Southern Miss jumped out to an early lead in the first half and never looked back, as they advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT. The Golden Eagles struggled from the outside, hitting just 1-of-15 from three-point range, but were able to keep the lead thanks to 17 turnovers by the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

No. 3 BYU 90, No. 7 Mercer 71

Brandon Davies had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cougars in an easy romp over the Mercer Bears to advance to the quarterfinals of the NIT. Guards Tyler Haws and Matt Carlino also had stellar games, with Haws adding 24 points and Carlino scoring 18 and dishing out nine assists. Travis Smith led the Bears with 19 points, as their run through the NIT concluded.

No. 4 Providence 77, No. 8 Robert Morris 68

LaDontae Henton led the Friars with 21 points and Bryce Cotton added 20 as Providence needed all the firepower they could muster to hold off a pesky Colonials squad. The two teams entered halftime tied at 34 points, but Vincent Council scored seven of his 12 points in the final five minutes as Providence moved on to the quarterfinals of the NIT.
