Despite an inconsistent season that saw N.C. State Wolfpack fall short of lofty pre-season expectations, Lorenzo Brown has decided to declare for the 2013 NBA Draft, according to a report from Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports.
Lorenzo Brown to declare for 2013 NBA Draft, according to report
The NC State PG, a projected late first-round pick, has reportedly decided to forego his final season of college eligibility.
Brown, a 6’5, 195-pound junior point guard, came onto the radar of NBA scouts last season, when he helped lead the Wolfpack to an unlikely berth in the Sweet 16. They were pre-season favorites to win the ACC this year, but they stumbled to a fourth-place finish due to injuries and inconsistency before losing to Temple in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Brown averaged 12 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds this season on 42/26/77 shooting. He has elite size for the PG position, but his lack of a consistent perimeter jumper, as well as his inconsistent defensive effort this season, has hurt his draft stock.
He’s currently projected to be a late first-round pick, but a strong showing in workouts could shoot him up draft boards, as there are very few legitimate 6’5 PG’s in any level of basketball.
