Kansas vs. Michigan: Jayhawks lead Wolverines at half

The Kansas Jayhawks lead the Michigan Wolverines, 40-34, at halftime in their Sweet 16 matchup.

Jamie Squire

The No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks have had their way offensively against the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines, and lead 40-34 at halftime.

Kansas shot a scorching 67 percent in the first half, making 17 shots in the paint against Michigan. Ben McLemore leads Kansas with 10 points, while Jeff Withey and Travis Releford both have eight. The Wolverines have struggled inside against the Jayhawks, as Withey and backup center Jamari Traylor each had two blocks in the first half.

The Wolverines are still in the game, however, despite making only four of their 11 three-point attempts. Mitch McGary continues to play well in the tournament, as he finished the first half with 11 points and five rebounds. Nik Stauskas chipped in nine points, while Trey Burke was held scoreless in the first half but did dish out five assists.

Kansas point guard Elijah Johnson got the game started with a flagrant-one for hitting McGary with a low blow. Johnson is in serious foul trouble, as he picked up three personal fouls in the first half.

Second-half coverage of the Sweet 16 game continues on TBS.
