America East Conference basketball standings 2013: Stony Brook earns top seed

Stony Brook earned the America East regular-season title, and the accompanying top seed in the conference tournament, by winning its last six games. Runner-up Vermont finished just 3-3 during that stretch.

The Stony Brook Seawolves earned the top seed in the America East Conference Tournament after finishing three games ahead of the Vermont Catamounts in the league standings.

Stony Brook (23-6, 14-2 America East) won its second straight regular-season championship by winning its final six games after losing to Hartford on Feb. 10. Its only other loss in league play came at the hands of the Catamounts, who finished the season with three losses in six games, ending their shot at the regular-season title.

The Boston Terriers ended up in a tie for second place with Vermont, but due to their pending departure to the Patriot League, the Terriers were disqualified from this year’s America East Conference Tournament.
