Brittney Griner will go down as one of the most decorated stars in women’s college basketball history when her career is over, and on Monday night she gave a prime example why when she scored 50 points against Kansas State in Baylor’s 90-68 win.

Griner shot 21-for-28, and had six rebounds and two assists. Surprisingly, she only added two blocked shots. But the highlight of the night came when she threw down a one-handed slam dunk with 16:56 left in the game to notch her third career dunk against Kansas State.
Somehow, the performance was only a Big 12 record, and not a school record. Mary Lowry scored 54 points in a game for the Bears before the formation of the conference in 1994. Griner was reflective after her final home game.
“It means everything to just go out with a bang like that,” Griner said. “Got a dunk finally at home, scored 50. I mean there’s not a better way to go out.”.
Griner had six dunks already this season, all of them coming on the road. Her last 10 had been away from home, so the record-tying crowd of 10,627 got a rare treat on Monday. The 6’8 two-time All-American moved into second place on the NCAA all-time scoring list behind Jackie Stiles, who starred for Missouri State from 1997-2001.
