Ordinarily, the punishment for a fighting-related ejection is an automatic one-game suspension, but the Big East reviews every case, as Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune notes, and Fighting Irish head coach Mike Brey plans to call the league office to ensure it does just that.
With Notre Dame leading comfortably following a huge second-half push, Biedscheid exchanged punches with Sir`Dominic Pointer of St. John's with 1:46 remaining in the game. Pointer was ejected for his role in the brawl, as well, and will be suspended for the Red Storm's season finale against Marquette, according to head coach Steve Lavin.
Several players left the bench during the skirmish, but the fate of those individuals remains to be seen.
Biedscheid, a freshman from St. Louis, Mo., is averaging 7.1 points in 18.3 minutes per game off the bench for the Irish this season.
