Syracuse vs. DePaul final score: Orange cruise past DePaul with 78-57 win

The Orange improved to 11-6 in Big East play with a win over the basement-dwelling Blue Demons and snapped a three-game losing streak.

The DePaul Blue Demons did themselves no favors against the No. 17 Syracuse Orange in a 78-57 loss in the Carrier Dome. The Blue Demons turned the ball over 17 times and allowed Syracuse to grab 18 offensive rebounds on the evening, ending too many possessions without shots and giving the Orange too many second opportunities.

Neither team shot the ball particularly well, with the Orange holding a slight advantage from the field at a 38.8 percent clip compared to DePaul’s 38.5 percent shooting night. Syracuse had a poor night from beyond the arc, hitting just 11.8 percent of their shots from distance.

Four players ended the night scoring double-digits for Syracuse, with James Southerland leading the way at 22 points. C.J. Fair was next with 17 points while Brandon Triche finished his evening with 15 points. Michael Carter-Williams squeaked into double digits with 10 points. Just two players cracked the double-digit mark for DePaul with Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young putting away 15 and 12 points, respectively, for the Blue Demons

The Orange will have one more chance to improve their seeding in the Big East Tournament when they face the No. 5 Georgetown Hoyas in the nation's capital on Saturday. DePaul will finish the season at home against the No. 20 Pitt Panthers.
