The first round of the 2013 Northeast Conference Tournament wrapped up on Wednesday. Of the four games played, there was just one upset, and it came in the 4-5 game.

No. 1 seed Robert Morris made quick work of No. 8 St. Francis, winning, 75-57, behind three 16+ point performances from Karvel Anderson, Russell Johnson and Lucky Jones.

Wagner, which received the No. 2 seed after a strong performance in the regular season, knocked off Central Connecticut State, 72-50.

LIU Brooklyn trailed six-seeded Quinnipiac by four at halftime, but a strong offensive showing in the second half led the Blackhawks to a 91-83 win. C.J. Garner led LIU with 30 points on 10-for-20 shooting.

In the lone upset of the day, No. 5 seed Mount St. Mary’s defeated No. 4 Bryant, 75-69.

The teams that won on Wednesday will now have two days to recover before playing the semifinals portion of the tournament. Robert Morris takes on Mount St. Mary’s, while Wagner faces Brooklyn on Saturday.

The winner of these two games will meet the following Tuesday to determine the NEC champion. The winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
