Missouri Valley Conference Tournament 2013 schedule and bracket: Creighton-Illinois State rematch still in play

A rematch of the 2012 MVC Tournament final is still in the cards after Illinois State knocked off Northern Iowa on Friday. Can the Redbirds stay alive and secure a spot in the Championship Game with a win over Wichita State?

Jeff Curry-US PRESSWIRE

The sixth-seeded Illinois State Redbirds will go for their second consecutive upset victory in the 2013 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday when they face the No. 2 Wichita State Shockers.

Illinois State knocked off the third-seeded Northern Iowa Panthers on Friday, and another victory over a higher seed will result in a second-consecutive MVC Championship Game appearance for the Redbirds.

If that happens, Illinois State will face the winner of the early game between the top-seeded Creighton Bluejays and No. 5 Indiana State Sycamores. Creighton easily dispatched of the Drake Bulldogs on Friday, while Indiana State knocked off the No. 4 Evansville Aces, 51-50. If Creighton takes care of business, this year's MVC title game will mirror that of last year, when the Bluejays needed overtime to defeat the Redbirds, capturing the league's automatic bid.

Here is the semifinal round schedule:

Saturday, March 9 on MVC TV

No. 1 Creighton vs. No. 5 Indiana State, 2:30 p.m. ET

No. 2 Wichita State vs. No. 6 Illinois State, 5 p.m. ET

An updated MVC Tournament bracket can be found here.
