Kevin Ware will remain in Indianapolis until Tuesday as he recovers from successful surgery to repair his broken leg, after which he hopes to travel with the Cardinals to Atlanta for the Final Four, the university reported on Sunday:

Ware's surgery lasted two hours, where his right tibia was re-set and a rod was inserted after he broke his leg in a horrific injury during the Louisville Cardinals 85-63 win over the Duke Blue Devils on Sunday night.

He was taken off the court in a stretcher among player tears during a near nine-minute break in the Elite Eight game. Rick Pitino said Ware was yelling, “Win the game, win the game,” despite having an open fracture of his leg.

Ware is originally from New York City but grew up in Atlanta.

The No. 1 Lousiville Cardinals take on the No. 9 Wichita State Shockers on Saturday at 3:10 p.m. ET.
