Mitch McGary, Glenn Robinson III returning to Michigan

Both Michigan freshmen were projected as first-round picks. Their decision to come back to school should make the Wolverines one of the top teams in the country next season.

After flirting with the idea of declaring for the NBA Draft, Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III have decided to return to Michigan for their sophomore seasons, according to a report from Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports. The pair will announce their decision in a press conference on Thursday.

Both players rose rapidly up NBA Draft boards during the NCAA Tournament, when they were integral parts of a Wolverines team that made it all the way to the national championship game.

If they had declared, McGary and Robinson were widely expected to be first-round picks. McGary, a 6’10, 250 big man, averaged over seven points and six rebounds a game while Robinson, a 6’6, 210 wing, averaged 11 points and five rebounds a game this season.

With Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. headed to the NBA, the two freshmen will step into featured roles for Michigan next season. And with several other key contributors from this season's team coming back, the Wolverines will likely be a top 15 team in the preseason polls.
