After shooting down persistent rumors throughout the season, UNLV guard Katin Reinhardt has indeed decided to transfer from UNLV, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The newspaper reported that Reinhardt will likely transfer to USC or another Pac-12 school. He won't be staying in Vegas, making him the third underclassman to depart prematurely from the Rebels.

Reinhardt started 34 games last season, and was the Rebels’ fourth-leading scorer at 10.1 points per game. He also led the team in three-pointers made (65) and attempted (185), which may have been part of his problem. UNLV head coach Dave Rice said that Reinhardt was looking for more ball-handling responsibility.
“Katin told me why he was leaving. He said that he feels his best opportunity to play in the NBA is to play more minutes at the point guard position,” Rice said. “Katin would have had an opportunity to compete for minutes at the point, but I’ve never guaranteed anyone that they will start or play a certain number of minutes.
“There have been over 900 transfers in Division I the last two seasons, and we are certainly not immune from that trend.”
Reinhardt joins freshman Anthony Bennett, who declared for the NBA Draft, and junior Mike Moser, who will transfer to Oregon for his final year of eligibility, among those leaving UNLV before they have to. Factor in the loss of graduating seniors Anthony Marshall, Justin Hawkins and Quintrell Thomas, and the Rebels will lose a combined 131 starts and 71 percent of their scoring from last season going into 2013. Juniors Bryce Dejean-Jones (10.3 ppg) and Khem Birch (7.2 ppg) are the only two players returning among last season's top eight scorers.
