Former SMU assistant Jerrance Howard will join Bill Self's staff as an assistant coach, Kansas announced on Friday. Howard was at SMU for one season under Larry Brown after spending five seasons as an assistant at his alma mater Illinois. Howard will replace Joe Dooley, who was an assistant at Kansas for 10 years before replacing Andy Enfield as head coach at Florida Gulf Coast in April.
Bill Self adds Jerrance Howard to Kansas coaching staff
Self replaced Joe Dooley, who is the new head coach at Florida Gulf Coast.

Self said that he and Howard’s mutual connections give him confidence that the transition will be a smooth one for his new assistant.
"Jerrance has great energy, is unbelievably positive and in a short amount of time has established himself as one of the better recruiters in college basketball," Self said in a press release. "Having worked for one of my former assistants, Billy Gillispie, and my former mentor Larry Brown, I'm totally comfortable with him coming in here, having a smooth transition and having an immediate, positive impact on our program."
Keep Howard’s name in mind, as Kansas assistants tend to find success in the world of college basketball.
