Oregon State’s Devon Collier, Eric Moreland suspended indefinitely

Two of Oregon State’s most important frontcourt players have been suspended for violation of team rules.

The Oregon State Beavers announced Tuesday that forwards Eric Moreland and Devon Collier have been suspended indefinitely, CBS Sports reports. Coach Craig Robinson released a statement saying the players violated team rules, but did not go into specifics.

The players will continue to work out with the team and attend classes.

Robinson said the team won’t have any further comment on the suspensions, but the punishment bleeding into the season would certainly impact OSU. Both Moreland and Collier were in the Beavers’ top-five in terms of total minutes played during 2012-13.

Moreland averaged 9.4 points, 10.6 rebound and 2.5 blocks per game as a sophomore last season. The 6'10, 215-pound forward filed paperwork to enter the NBA Draft, but pulled himself out of consideration to return for his junior year. Robinson has said Moreland could grow into a first-round NBA draft pick, and DraftExpress ranks the forward as the 26th-best player in his class.

It’s the second time this calendar year Moreland has been suspended indefinitely.

Collier was the Beavers’ second-leading scorer, averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in 2012-13, his junior season.
