Isaac Hamilton enrolled at UCLA on Friday, according to report

The UTEP transfer was denied a release from his National Letter of Intent by Miners coach Tim Floyd.

USA TODAY Sports

McDonald’s All-American Isaac Hamilton enrolled at UCLA on Friday after transferring from the UTEP Miners, according to Neal Nieves of Bruins Sports Report. The freshman will sit out his first college season before gaining eligibility.

And suddenly, a rough week recruiting misses by the Bruins might have gotten a little better. This past week, UCLA has lost out on 2014 point guards Jordan McLaughlin and Quentin Snider, who signed with USC and Illinois, respectively.

Though Hamilton is a 6’5, 185-pound shooting guard, it’s nonetheless an impressive pickup for first-year coach Steve Alford.

A four-star recruit who was ranked by ESPN as the 32nd best prospect in the 2013 class, Hamilton is the brother of Denver Nuggets guard Jordan Hamilton.

Isaac Hamilton was committed and signed to play for the UTEP Miners, but with a request to be closer to an ill grandmother was denied a release from his letter of intent by UTEP coach Tim Floyd. Floyd was still hoping Hamilton, who is from Saint John Bosco High School in Los Angeles, would enroll in El Paso this week, according to ESPN.
