Indiana Hoosiers forward Troy Williams will miss a "few weeks" after injuring his right hand during a workout, the school announced Monday.
Troy Williams injury: Indiana freshman SF out a ‘few weeks’ with injured right hand
One of Tom Crean’s prized newcomers will miss some valuable preseason practice time.

Williams, a 6’7 freshman who Rivals ranked No. 47 in the class of 2013, had been performing well so far in preseason workouts, Indiana coach Tom Crean said in the release. Crean said the setback “is a minor one in the scheme of things.”
No timetable was given for Williams’ return, but a “few weeks” implies Williams will not be ready to participate in Hoosier Hysteria, Indiana’s Midnight Madness event, on Oct. 4.
Williams was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Virginia last season, averaging 16.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks at Oak Hill Academy as a senior. If he is indeed out a few weeks, he will likely miss a good chunk of preseason practices but would be ready to go by Indiana’s season opener against the Chicago State Cougars on Nov. 8.
