Wichita State vs. Southern Illinois final score: Shockers remain unbeaten, 82-67
Wichita State is flexing its muscles as the country’s top mid-major program, soundly defeating Southern Illinois in the Missouri Valley Conference opener.

Forward a Cleanthony Early was the key on offense, shooting 8 of 11 from the field on his way to 23 points. Fred Van Vleet chipped in 17 as the game got out of hand early. The Shockers led by 13 just ten minutes in and cruised from that point forward.
For the Salukis, guards Sean O'Brien and Desmar Jackson each dropped 19 points in the loss.
Wichita State finished 12-6 in Missouri Valley Conference play last season. But with Creighton’s departure from the conference and the talent the Shockers have developed, there is an outside chance they run the table in the MVC.
