Expect offense on Monday — lots of it.
Must Read
The Blue Hens, who are 24-9, beat the Tribe by five and 17 points in two meetings during the CAA regular season, and they've won 18 of their last 20 games behind a three-headed attack. Guards Devon Saddler, Davon Usher and Jarvis Threatt are all averaging at least 18 points per game for a team that as a whole scores close to 80 points per game. All five starters for Delaware scored in double-figures as it beat Northeastern 87-74 in the CAA Tournament's semifinal round.
Even though Delaware played well in nonconference losses to Ohio State, Villanova and Notre Dame, it seems unlikely to make the postseason should it be upset by William & Mary, which dropped No. 2 seed Towson in the CAA semifinal round.
The Tribe knocked off Towson 75-71 behind red-hot shooting indicative of its makeup. The No. 3 seed hit 11-of-22 three-point shots and have six players that on the year have shot 37 percent or better from deep. Junior guard Marcus Thornton averages 18.6 points per game, takes 7.2 three-point shots per game and makes 39.7 percent from long range.
If Thornton can lead his team to another upset, it would earn William & Mary its first NCAA Tournament bid in school history.
