Big East Tournament 2014 schedule and bracket: Bottom of conference gets it started on Wednesday

Georgetown, Seton Hall, Butler and DePaul get the party started on Wednesday with the rest of the conference joining in on Thursday.

The teams in the Big East might change, but the conference tournament in Madison Square Garden will always stay the same. The bottom four teams in the conference kick off the festivities with a couple of games on Wednesday.

The first game of the evening is between No. 8 Seton Hall and No. 9 Butler. It will be the second-consecutive game played between the two teams, as the Pirates closed out the season on the road against Butler. Seton Hall dropped both games against the Bulldogs this year and lost the second game by its largest margin in conference play. Meanwhile, Butler’s introduction to the Big East was one to forget. The Bulldogs finished under .500 overall for the first time since 2004-05 and at one point dropped seven straight conference games. Butler turned a slight corner and enters the tournament on a two-game winning streak.

The No. 7 Georgetown Hoyas take on the No. 10 DePaul Blue Demons in the second game of the evening. DePaul enters the Big East Tournament having lost 12 of its past 13 games. The Hoyas had a similarly streaky season, although not to the same degree as DePaul. Georgetown dropped five straight Big East games in January, but turned around in February with four consecutive wins. Markel Starks led Georgetown to two wins over DePaul this season, scoring 21 points in the first game and 26 in the second.

Here is the schedule of the games on Wed. March 12:

No. 8 Seton Hall vs. No. 9 Butler, 7 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1

No. 7 Georgetown vs. No. 10 DePaul, 9:30 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1
