2014 Pac-12 Tournament schedule and bracket: Arizona, UCLA face off for title

The top two seeds in the conference advance to play in the Pac-12 Tournament championship game on Saturday.

In its 16-year history, the Pac-12 Tournament has featured either the Arizona Wildcats or UCLA Bruins 11 times. Often, it has hosted both. So it's fitting that Saturday's conference final features the two schools that have combined for seven of the 16 conference tournament titles.

Must Reads

No. 1 seed Arizona was the first to punch its ticket to the championship game. The suffocating, packed-in defense that many argue is the best in the country carried the 'Cats past the Colorado Buffaloes, 63-43. Pac-12 Player of the Year Nick Johnson led the way, filling out the stat sheet with a game-high 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Arizona uses the win to assert its case for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, while Colorado will have to settle for whatever seed comes to them on Selection Sunday.

No. 2 UCLA demolished the No. 6 Stanford Cardinal, 84-59, thanks to 65 percent shooting from the field. The Bruins built a 44-29 halftime lead and never looked back. Norman Powell led UCLA with 22 points, while Dwight Powell scored 16 for the Cardinal in defeat.

Despite their relative success in the tournament, the last Pac-12 tourney title for Arizona came in 2002 and for UCLA in 2008. On Saturday night, one of those droughts will come to an end.
